  <title>Episode #300 - Let's Not Expect Perfection!</title>
<description>Happy 300th episode! &amp;amp;nbsp; Most veterinarians have perfectionist tendencies and our profession encourages it because we need to adhere to high standards. &amp;amp;nbsp;Perfectionism is sometimes healthy because it can lead to motivation and drive, but taken to extremes will lead to many unhealthy results. &amp;amp;nbsp; Perfectionism can be a symptom of anxiety, and anxiety can lead to more perfectionism. &amp;amp;nbsp; This drive towards perfection can lead to procrastination and lack of motivation. &amp;amp;nbsp;Internal pressures such as the desire to avoid failure, criticism, or judgement will turn toxic if we don't work to change those internal pressures. &amp;amp;nbsp;Perfectionism may lead to depression and even suicide if we do not learn to understand why we feel the need to be perfect. &amp;amp;nbsp;Allowing for imperfection, even in small ways, will open up possibilties and make life more fulfilling.
