Merida Diaz, a beloved paraprofessional who dreamed of becoming a teacher, died May 3, 2023, after a lengthy liver disease, at age 28. During the ceremony, he was honored with a moment of silence, and his portrait was placed on a table outside the WHS gym where commencement was held.
