2. Faithful Prayer Takes Practice
Have you ever been on a sailing boat?  Not only are they amazing, they're extremely complex vessels.  They have their own set of directions; aft, bow, port, starboard, leeward and windward.  Even operating the ship comes with a wide vocabulary of terms; boom, rudder, tacking and jibing...just to name a few.  Let's just say that a landlubber isn't boarding a sailboat and soloing around the world! Not only is there a unique set of terms, it requires practice and hard work.  Take a few minutes and watch a YouTube instructional video on the ins and outs of operating the sailing gear--it's not easy.  However, when it's mastered, there's nothing quite like harnessing the ocean winds to fly across the waves! Last episode we discussed how the spiritual discipline of prayer is like "raising the sails" or our lives to grab hold of the power of God available to guide and direct our lives.  In the same way as a landlubber needs a lot of practice and hard work before he or she can master sailing, the discipline of prayer requires practice, determination and grit.  Simply put, the practice of prayer requires practice! In this sermon we will revisit the model prayer; a templet provided by Jesus to his disciples.  He did this so that they would have a plan to practice, and in so doing develop strong prayer "muscles".  Do you want to learn more?  Make sure and listen to part two of Less of Me ~ More of Him.
