  <title>Olga of Kiev</title>
<description>Olga&amp;amp;nbsp;(Old East Slavic:&amp;amp;nbsp;Вольга,&amp;amp;nbsp;romanized:&amp;amp;nbsp;Volĭga;[a]&amp;amp;nbsp;Old Norse:&amp;amp;nbsp;Helga;&amp;amp;nbsp;Lith:&amp;amp;nbsp;Alge; Christian name:&amp;amp;nbsp;Elena; c. 890–925 – 969) was a&amp;amp;nbsp;regent&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;Kievan Rus'&amp;amp;nbsp;for her son&amp;amp;nbsp;Sviatoslav&amp;amp;nbsp;from 945 until 960. Following her baptism, Olga took the name&amp;amp;nbsp;Elenа&amp;amp;nbsp;(Old East Slavic:&amp;amp;nbsp;Ѡлена,&amp;amp;nbsp;romanized:&amp;amp;nbsp;Olena).[2]&amp;amp;nbsp;She is known for her subjugation of the&amp;amp;nbsp;Drevlians, a tribe that had killed her husband&amp;amp;nbsp;Igor of Kiev. Even though it was her grandson&amp;amp;nbsp;Vladimir&amp;amp;nbsp;who converted the entire nation to Christianity, because of her efforts to spread&amp;amp;nbsp;Christianity&amp;amp;nbsp;through Rus', Olga is venerated as a&amp;amp;nbsp;saint&amp;amp;nbsp;in the&amp;amp;nbsp;Eastern Orthodox Church&amp;amp;nbsp;with the epithet &amp;quot;Equal to the Apostles&amp;quot;. Her&amp;amp;nbsp;feast day is 11 July. Our theme song was written and performed by Anna Bosnick.
