It was a fabulous event, bringing talent\nform across the globe onstage for memorable performances. Click\nhere for my review of the event.\nThe past few years have had\ncelebratory concerts in Istanbul, Turkey; Osaka, Japan; and Paris,\nFrance. The 2016 blow-out will take place in Washington, D.C. Our\nnation\u2019s capital will join with towns, cities and villages in over\n190 countries on all 7 continents to observe International Jazz Day\nthrough thousands of performances and programs.\nPresident Barack\nObama and First Lady Michelle Obama will\nhost the 5th anniversary International Jazz Day All-Star Global\nConcert at the White House on April 29th, broadcast the\nnext day as a one-hour primetime ABC television special, \u201cJazz at\nthe White House,\u201d on Saturday evening, April 30th and streamed on\nthe United Nations, UNESCO, U.S. State Department and White House\nwebsites.\nAmong those scheduled to\nappear in D.C. are pianists Joey Alexander, John Beasley (Music\nDirector), Kris Bowers, Chick Corea, Robert Glasper, Herbie\nHancock, Danilo P\u00e9rez and Chucho Vald\u00e9s; trumpeters Terence\nBlanchard, Till Br\u00f6nner, Hugh Masekela and James Morrison;\nvocalists Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jamie Cullum, Kurt Elling, Aretha\nFranklin, Al Jarreau, Diana Krall, Dianne Reeves and Sting;\nsaxophonists Eli Degibri, David S\u00e1nchez, Wayne Shorter and Bobby\nWatson; bassists Christian McBride, Marcus Miller, Esperanza\nSpalding&amp;nbsp;and Ben Williams; guitarists Buddy Guy, Lionel\nLoueke, Pat Metheny and Lee Ritenour; drummers Brian Blade, Terri\nLyne Carrington and Kendrick Scott; percussionist Zakir Hussain;\ntrombone player Trombone Shorty; and the Rebirth Brass Band.\nHere at Straight No Chaser, it\nis our tradition to celebrate International Jazz Day by giving you\nan hour plus of uninterrupted jazz from artists who hail from the\nfour corners of the earth.
