Ogre was the emperor and harlequin romance hero of my pathetic little world. He is a godless god. 5:03-7:12 THE CURE (1980) Plastic Passion — I know everyone thinks the Cure is brilliant, but it hits full realization live. 7:13-12:30 MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT (1988) And This Is What The Devil Does — I cannot explain the level of devil worship that started after listening to this band. 12:31-18:12 YAZOO (1982) Situation (Remix) — The best women have great laughs. The incomparable Alison Moyet’s laugh is used in many songs, including the Macarena. Ridiculous. She is so fucking hot. http://www.backofthecerealbox.com/2010/10/she-laughs-again.html 18:13-21:53 BAUHAUS (1981) The Passion of Lovers — I feel like Peter Murphy and David Bowie making out was probably the hottest thing ever. They had to have made out, right? 21:53-25:58 DEPECHE MODE (1983) Everything Counts — How fucking hard is it to pick a DM song out of their billion brilliant albums? Shitfaced hard. My fave album is the ever-moody Black Celebration. Stripped breaks me, to this day. 26:07-29:17 CHRISTIAN DEATH (1982) Romeo's Distress — I solely made out with a boy in college who professed his love for the seminal album ‘Only Theatre of Pain’. He was the worst kisser, ever. It was that wide-mouth never-ending tongue-kiss. His name was Jerry. 29:18-33:08 ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN (1985) Bring on the Dancing Horses — Ian McCulloch’s voice isn’t sexy, it’s beautiful. It cuts deep and blows delicious bubbles into your withered heart. 33:09-38:43 MINISTRY (1986) We Believe — The evolution of Ministry is an incredible one to hear. ‘With Sympathy’ is basically AWESOME pop wave. A few years later they released ‘The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste’ which is a flawless mix of metal and industrial. It’s difficult to believe the same band created all these different sounds, outside of the immense talent. ‘Twitch’ is their first jaunt into a harder industrial sound, and it is magnificent. 38:44-41:48 GENE LOVES JEZEBEL (1986) Desire (Come and Get It) — The poster of dyed-red-haired vixen Jay Aston hung above my bed. They were my first concert without parents: 14-years-old at the Glenn Miller Ballroom in Boulder. 41:49-45:35 SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES (1988) Ornaments Of Gold — Every viciously cool girl I know worships Siouxsie. 46:06-50:59 NEW ORDER (1985) Sub-Culture — New Order was birthed from the bloody remains of Joy Division, and we all praise be to earthly cycles that create such phenomenon. 50:59-54:34 THE SMITHS (1984) This Night Has Opened My Eyes — It’s weird when people judge Morrissey on the level of emotion in his music. All he wants is for us to laugh and cry into our pillows, and it’s magnificent to feel so deep. 54:34-END THE SISTERS OF MERCY (1987) Lucretia My Reflection — I end with the epitome of majestic and lush, Andrew’s vocals are sexy as fuck. One of the best albums of all time. I have a dance routine to every one of these songs.
