The wait proved worth it as the film grossed almost $1.5 billion worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2022 and the highest-grossing film of Cruise's career. The film won multiple awards, including an Oscar for Best Sound and was nominated for Best Picture. Among its many achievements, the film is largely credited with \u201cbringing people back to the theaters\u201d after over two years of relatively low interest.
