About 10 years into my marriage I pushed the envelope with regard to neglecting my part in the arrangement. I forgot that it’s crucial for everything to grow and I was not playing my part. Thank god I had/have a loving and patient wife and that I woke up and re-engaged before it was too late. “Explore ways of being that empower your relationship. . . explore and discover them together. . . every day and every minute.” This episode was an amazing opportunity to have a dialogue with my wife about the breakdown and ultimate breakthrough in our marriage. Seems like these days everything on the web from self improvement, personal development, finding the right partner or having a healthy marriage etc. comes with a TO DO list. It’s eye catching, easy to read and great for search engine optimization, at least that’s what they tell me and by “they” I mean my content strategist. I think that’s what his title is. Those lists are someone’s opinion and we all know what opinions are like...but seriously some of those self help, personal development posts can be helpful as reminders in a noisy and distracting world. So forgive my sarcasm cause I actually like the lists...in my recent podcast I had the pleasure of interviewing my wife. When I was thinking about this blog post I tripped on a TO DO list in the Huffington Post that I liked 11 Ways To Make Your Marriage Happier, Starting Today And that’s what’s kicked off his post. Check out the list and see if it inspires you. If you are in a relationship that you are committed to nurturing it, then I think you will. I mean just a few of the suggestions are, though obvious, solid: “Recognize the ebb-and-flow.” “Remind your partner (and yourself) that you appreciate them”. “Say thank you for the little things.” To name a few.
