In Chapter 5, The big book prefaces the steps with \u201cHere are the steps we took, which are suggested as a program of recovery:\u201d Therefore, it is implied that all the steps begin with we. The foreword to the 3rd edition of the \u201cbig book\u201d says \u201c\u2026 at its core it remains simple and personal. Each day, somewhere in the world, recovery begins when one alcoholic talks with another alcoholic, sharing experience, strength, and hope.
