Statement of Need This podcast will review the diagnosis and management of shoulder pain in youth athletes - which is a common musculoskeletal complaint. Items addressed will address common shoulder injuries and highlight key features in the diagnosis as well as red flags. Objectives  Identify the most common shoulder injuries in youth and adolescent athletes and differentiate overuse injuries from acute traumatic injuries. Review the pathology, diagnosis and management of common shoulder pain and injuries in youth athletes, including the red flags. List factors that contribute to overuse injuries in youth athletes. Discuss strategies to reduce shoulder injury risk in youth athletes as well as outlining expectations for recovery and return to play.
