According to Tunick\u2019s lawyers, he had previously been placed on a federal watch list for his involvement in the Stop Cop City movement in Atlanta, and Customs and Border Protection had discussed over email plans to detain him upon his arrival back in the US for \u201csuspected terrorism activities.\u201d When he was detained, he was told that his phone was going to be searched for evidence of child abuse, a claim that the government has never provided any evidence for. When agents demanded that Tunick give them his password, he gave them what is known as a special \u201cduress password,\u201d which, upon being entered, erases all data on the phone to protect the owner.
