Romans 8:4 – 17 ”That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh [flesh and carnal, mean the same thing], but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind [think] the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit [think] the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally [flesh and carnal, mean the same thing] minded [thinking] is death; but to be spiritually minded [thinking] is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind [thinking] is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh [thinking] cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you [your thinking]. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” Romans 3:20 – 26 “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” Romans 4:1- 11 “What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. 9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. 10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. 11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:” These verses got me thinking about thinking and thoughts. Thinking is more active and concrete than a passive thought. We have to challenge every thought. Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Titus 1:9 “Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.” This is what the workshop that I am doing this summer is all about. I would like for us to work this together. I would like us to think about what we know from the word and help each other as we discuss and talk about the teachings together. (The information is available on my website. There is a link to my website below on the Workshop page.) Matthew 6:33, 32, & 34 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto :32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. You. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” May God bless you abundantly Steve If you would like to study the Bible further, consider reviewing the Online Classes and Teachings page and the podcast page of the website https://stevejaynes.com.
