Our text today is Hosea 11:5-7: They shall not return to the land of Egypt, but Assyria shall be their king, because they have refused to return to me. The sword shall rage against their cities, consume the bars of their gates, and devour them because of their own counsels. My people are bent on turning away from me, and though they call out to the Most High, he shall not raise them up at all. \u2014 Hosea 11:5-7 Some people are exhausted not because life is hard, but because they are trying to carry themselves through it alone. That is what we discover in this chapter. God keeps calling His people back, but they \u201crefused to return.\u201d He wanted to help, lead, protect, and restore them. Yet they were too stubborn to accept the help they needed. And honestly, many of us do the same thing. We know how to perform. We know how to stay productive, stay busy, stay guarded, and keep moving forward. But we do not know how to surrender. So we carry everything ourselves\u2014pressure, fear, shame, expectations, anxiety, disappointment, and pain. Over time, that weight becomes too much for us. We are crushed by it. But instead of opening up, we tighten up. We resist vulnerability and become more secluded. That is what pride looks like in real life. It's not always loud arrogance. Sometimes it's quiet self-preservation. The belief that we must try alone because others won't understand or won't help. Hosea says: \u201cMy people are bent on turning away from me.\u201d That word \u201cbent\u201d means inclined toward resistance. Some people become so used to handling everything on their own that they instinctively resist help\u2014even from God. But the more we do this, the more we manage our image than heal our soul. I have watched pride do this to people for years. Men and women slowly isolating themselves emotionally, spiritually, and relationally because they do not know how to admit weakness. They would rather silently suffer than honestly surrender. But God is not standing at a distance, eager to shame you. In this chapter, God is calling you home. Not to expose you\u2014but to remove the weight of isolation and pride that is crushing you. Maybe the exhaustion you feel today is not just physical or emotional. Maybe it is the exhaustion of trying to carry alone what God never asked you to carry. Surrender matters. The moment you finally tell the truth, something begins to break. The moment you ask for help, something begins to open. The moment you stop pretending, healing begins. And this is especially true in your relationship with God. Humility is not weakness in a believer's life. Humility is the beginning of letting the Father be your strength. So stop carrying everything on your own. Give it to God and return to his divine strength. Start by telling God honestly today where you are exhausted, overwhelmed, or pretending to be stronger than you really are. Where has pride kept me guarded or isolated? What would surrender look like for me today? PRAY THIS: Father, I am tired of trying to carry everything alone. Help me stop resisting your care, surrender my pride, and trust you enough to let you help me. Amen.
