The News Movement has published a documentary about two White teenagers from Chicago who spend hours every day following and filming ICE agents. As the Trump administration prepares a new wave of attacks on communities, this time in New Orleans, hundreds of residents are preparing by attending legal observation trainings. The brothers, Ben and Sam Luhmann, who are homeschooled and are trained as legal observers, spend five hours every morning following and filming ICE agents, like many activists do. However, their privilege as White middle-class teenagers gives them a unique opportunity to document ICE agents with less concern for their own safety. The documentary shows that, because, many of the arrests that ICE makes are illegal, the agents often simply leave the scene as soon as the brothers begin filming them. When the agents do make an arrest, the brothers try to get information about the person being arrested so that a lawyer can try to ensure ICE does not disappear them. They are repeatedly verbally and physically threatened by the ICE agents, but they are never arrested.
