The app uses native macOS APIs and Optical Character Recognition to analyze everything on your screen, and stores all recordings locally on your Mac for privacy reasons[1]. Rewind compresses raw recording data up to 3,750 times so even with the smallest hard drive Apple offers today, you can store years of recordings[1].
