It is typically described as a large, cat-like creature with sharp teeth and claws. Some people believe that the Wampus cat is a descendant of the Eastern cougar, which went extinct in the early 1900s. Others believe that it is a completely different species of animal. There have been many reports of wampus cat sightings over the years. In 1920, a farmer in the Yadkin Valley claimed to have shot a wampus cat that was attacking his livestock. The creature was described as being about the size of a bear with a long, shaggy coat. In 1935, a group of hunters in the Uwharrie Mountains claimed to have seen a wampus cat that was about the size of a panther. While there is no scientific evidence to support the existence of the wampus cat, many people in North Carolina continue to believe in the creature. The wampus cat has become a part of the state's folklore and is often featured in stories and legends.  Here are some additional details about the wampus cat: It is said to be about the size of a bear or panther. It has sharp teeth and claws. It is covered in a long, shaggy coat. It is said to be a nocturnal creature. It is said to be very aggressive and dangerous.
