Lee Kantor is also the host of the popular Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy show \r\nand several other Atlanta-based radio shows.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThis afternoon we spoke with Janet Christy who has spent the majority of her professional\r\ncareer in marketing, sales and public relations positions.&amp;nbsp; She has also worked on several economic\r\ndevelopment and technology initiatives in the Southeast.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIn 2003 Janet formed Leverage\r\n&amp;amp; Development, LLC, a consulting firm focused on helping Small and\r\nWoman\/Minority Owned businesses and government\/education entities.&amp;nbsp; The firm has several service offerings that\r\nassist businesses and governments in evaluating their assets and then\r\ndeveloping plans to improve them and\/or use them to accomplish specific goals.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nJanet\r\ncurrently works with Women and Minority owned businesses to develop plans that\r\nwill help them maximize their certification as a Woman or Minority Owned\r\nBusiness.&amp;nbsp; She prepares a customized\r\nmanual for her clients that includes: Market Assessment, Key Prospects,\r\nProspecting Strategy, and a Step-by-Step Marketing Plan.&amp;nbsp; \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nJanet\r\nalso conducts seminars on marketing and certification for Small and\r\nWoman\/Minority Owned Businesses. She conducts the seminars for Chamber of\r\nCommerce memberships, private businesses, education institutions and\r\nmunicipal\/county governments.&amp;nbsp; These\r\nworkshops provide attendees with practical instruction, resources and\r\nexperience-based advice.&amp;nbsp; \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIn\r\n2006 Career Press (Franklin NJ) published Janet's book Capitalizing On\r\nBeing Woman Owned.&amp;nbsp; Janet has\r\nalso written articles for several magazines and blogs including &amp;quot;Home Business\r\nMagazine.\u201d&amp;nbsp; She has made more than 30\r\nradio appearances to discuss the advantages and opportunities for woman owned\r\nbusinesses.&amp;nbsp; Janet was selected as part\r\nof the \u201cBrain Trust\u201d for the Small Business Advocate and has been appointed to the Board of Business Credit Success. &amp;nbsp;Janet was named as \u201cCommunicator of the Year\u201d\r\nby the Greenville SC Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications.\r\nShe continues to speak and conduct workshops related to Women and Minority\r\nOwned Businesses.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\u201cOne\r\nof my main goals is to help women understand that they have choices in\r\nlife.&amp;nbsp; Helping them be successful in\r\ntheir business choices is one of the ways I can do this,\u201d says Janet.&amp;nbsp; That is why she often speaks to women&amp;quot;s\r\ngroups and mentors other women.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSince early 2000, Janet has aided\r\nseveral East Coast municipalities and counties in determining strategies and\r\ndeveloping plans for improving the entrepreneurial culture and services as part\r\nof their Economic Development efforts.&amp;nbsp;\r\nShe has helped them obtain grants, develop small business incubators and\r\nestablish entrepreneurial development programs. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nJanet\r\nhas worked on both sides of the procurement process.&amp;nbsp; Her experience includes both preparing RFPs\r\n(Request for Proposal) and RFIs (Request for Information) and responding to\r\nthem.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; She currently works as a\r\nconsultant for Small and Woman\/Minority Owned Businesses to aid them in\r\nmarketing to government and education entities.&amp;nbsp;\r\nShe also assists government and education entities in the development of\r\nRFPs and the evaluation of responses.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;\r\nJanet\u2019s firm, Leverage &amp;amp; Development, LLC offers a workshop to help\r\nbusinesses understand the culture behind government purchasing, the workshop is\r\ntitled \u201cI Want A Government Contract - I Think.\u201d For more information about Janet, her bok or her firm please go to her website www.leverageanddevelopment.com\r\nAlso, \r\nif you know of a Public Relations professional anywhere in the world&amp;nbsp;that we \r\nshould know about, please email Elizabeth Gordon at EGordon @ \r\nFlourishingBusiness.com.
