  <description>  For half a century, my comedy material gave me a voice, an identity, and a place to stand. But I discovered even something I deeply loved became a boundary. I began protecting what worked instead of risking what might work next.&amp;amp;nbsp;   So, I recently performed it for the last time. I am no longer required to sound like the comedian I was. It’s time to surprise myself again.  I retired my comedy material. I did not retire my gift for creating. I just cleared the stage for it. </description>
