Episode 112: Honoring Therapist Sue Foster for 22 Years of Hope & Healing

As Music for the Soul gets ready to celebrate 25 years of ministry, Steve Siler and Becky Nordquist sit down with licensed therapist, longtime ministry partner, and current Board Chair, Sue Foster. Sue first joined Music for the Soul through an unexpected chain of events that led her to leave her job, move to Nashville, and begin a journey of service that has now spanned more than 22 years. With warmth and humor, this episode explores the many ways Sue has helped shape the ministry—from office life and conference travel to the development of songs and projects addressing grief, trauma, and loss. Steve and Sue revisit the stories behind After the Storm and Drink Deep, highlighting the importance of listening carefully, honoring different experiences of grief, and trusting that the right people and resources will come together at the right time. This episode is a celebration of the people behind the scenes working with Music for the Soul; whose faithfulness helps make healing possible. Through laughter, memories, and stories of God’s provision, Steve, Becky, and Sue remind us that ministry is built not only through songs and resources, but through friendship, sacrifice, and the willingness to follow where God leads. Who is Sue Foster? Ms. Sue Foster has extensive experience as a marriage and family therapist specializing in grief and loss. She is also a speaker and co-author of the book “Finding Your Way after the Suicide of Someone You Love.” Ms. Foster has served as our primary therapeutic consultant for several years and has been an invaluable content contributor and advisor for several of the Music for the Soul projects.
