With the S&amp;amp;P 500 roughly 10% above key moving averages, upside targets near 8,000 offer considerably less potential than the downside risk of a pullback toward the 50-DMA. Momentum is nearing a sell signal as rising interest rates, higher oil prices, inflation pressures, Jackson Hole, the next Fed meeting, and midterm-cycle volatility converge. A pullback could ultimately create opportunity, but for now, taking profits, managing portfolio risk, and avoiding aggressive additions through September remain the focus.
