Episode 111: In Memory: Christian Music Icon Bob Farrell Shares about the Impact of The Jesus Movement
On July 11, 2026, we lost one of the brightest stars in the constellation of Christian Songwriters. Bob Farrell went to be with the Lord at the age of 77 and we wanted to honor his memory and his legacy by replaying his episode this week.  So we often wonder about the reach a song or act can have and how God uses it for His Kingdom. What leads to those large movements where the Lord enters the lives of thousands?  Bob Farrell shares his experience co-founding Farrell and Farrell during the height of The Jesus Movement, what lead to the movement creating such a lasting impact for the Kingdom of God, and how his music played into the sounds of the time while creating deep, meaningful lyrics that led people to Christ. Bob also talked about traveling the world ministering to others, including traveling to Moscow just a year before the Berlin Wall fell. He explained the many names he had worked with in his over 40 year career, and what he believed is so important for Christian music in a day and age that can look more clouded than ever. Who is Bob Farrell? Bob Farrell was a Nashville-based musician-songwriter-producer with a career that has spanned 40 years; 25 years of that as Christian music duo Farrell & Farrell with his wife Jayne, recording 10 albums and touring all over the world, including in 1988 - a year before the Berlin Wall came down - performing 30 shows in Moscow and Leningrad by invitation of the Kremlin Peace Committee. Bob penned songs for Eric Clapton, Wynonna Judd, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Anne Murray and dozens of other artists, as well as several concept works, including !HERO The Rock Opera, Le Voyage for Sandi Patty, and two projects recorded with the London Symphony - one of which is Saviour, performed at Carnegie Hall Oct. 2014 and The Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C. June, 2016.
