Janylène Turcotte spent 25 years as a senior HR executive, the last stretch at Deloitte. She served as an integrator on several deals — inside the due diligence, close to the moment a business changes hands — guiding people and organizations through transition and transformation. Then her own role ended — not on her terms. She walked out of that meeting feeling like she'd left a coat at the door. Over the emptying weeks that followed, she realized how much of who she thought she was had been the coat. The title. The brand. The identity she'd worn without noticing.
