Have You Heard of Keti Koti? It's not too late to celebrate!

Have you ever heard of Keti Koti? I hadn't—until I was invited to a celebration in the Netherlands that opened my eyes to another powerful Black freedom celebration. Meet me in YAIT Town as we gather at Umoja Café, stroll through the Community Garden, and settle onto the Front Porch for a conversation about Keti Koti—a Black freedom celebration that changed the way I think about freedom. Together, we'll discover what Keti Koti is, why it matters, how it connects with Juneteenth, and what both celebrations can teach us about freedom, our shared history, and the work of closing the Freedom Gap. We will also discuss the freedom gap: The difference between what was promised and what is received! It is a real and enduring problem that Black communities are experiencing. In this episode, we'll meet in YAIT Town, begin our conversation at Umoja Café, walk through the Community Garden, and end on the Front Porch with Mr. Kojo, Auntie Octavia, Mrs. Alberta Jenkins, and some of our village's young people. Join us!
