  <title>Discover the Delicious History of the New Orleans Poor Boy! - Episode #006</title>
  <description>Beyond Bourbon Street is the podcast where we explore the food, music,&amp;amp;nbsp;places,&amp;amp;nbsp;people and events that make New Orleans unique.&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;amp;nbsp;Whether you are planning a trip, currently living in New Orleans or simply wanting a taste of the Crescent City from wherever you are, you&amp;amp;rsquo;ve come to the right place!&#13;
In this episode we trace the birth of the poor boy from the streetcar motormen strike of 1929 through today. &amp;amp;nbsp;You&amp;amp;rsquo;ll be introduced to Benny &amp;amp;amp; Clovis Martin, former motormen themselves who created the first poor boy.&#13;
You&amp;amp;rsquo;ll also learn how the name poor boy came into being, and why the term po-boy is not quite correct! &amp;amp;nbsp;Along the way, we&amp;amp;rsquo;ll explore the restaurants and people that helped the poor boy become the New Orleans icon it is today. &amp;amp;nbsp;We&amp;amp;rsquo;ll stop in at Parkway Bakery &amp;amp;amp; Tavern, Domilise&amp;amp;rsquo;s, Johnny&amp;amp;rsquo;s Po-Boys and Mother&amp;amp;rsquo;s Restaurant.&amp;amp;nbsp;&#13;
Our first ever guest on the show is a man who literally grew up in the po-boy business and owned an iconic New Orleans neighborhood restaurant for 36 years, Teddy&amp;amp;rsquo;s Grill. &amp;amp;nbsp;He is an expert on the business of the po-boy, and also happens to be my dad - vincent Bologna!&#13;
