In the late 1970s, Israel agreed to return the Sinai to Egypt in exchange for peace. Currently, it appears that this agreement may be coming to an end. Egypt has positioned 40,000 troops in the Sinai, which is a direct violation of the peace agreement.  As Israel continues to fight Iran and its proxies, Egypt is weighing its options.
