SINK IT OR LET IT SWIM

Today, we explore a question that is not always easy to answer: when it comes to crab fishing, do the benefits outweigh the risks — or is there a safer, more compassionate alternative where the crabs are not placed in distress? At the Bluesheet Clubhouse, we looked closely at both sides of the conflict before deciding what the right thing to do might be. For some brain injury survivors, crawfishing can offer important benefits — fresh air, relaxation, social connection, routine, confidence building, and time spent outdoors with friends and family. But others have raised concerns about safety, responsibility, and the wellbeing of the crabs themselves. In this episode, you’ll first hear about the positive benefits crawfishing can bring to a brain injury survivor. Then, we’ll share a short story written by our group about a difficult situation on the docks — and a decision that had to be made.
