📅 Schedule Your Practice Growth Strategy Review ⚙️ Restart your practice in 7 days ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Kristina Tansavatdi, MD shares her experience on what it really takes to open your own practice and what she would have done differently. Hello, and welcome to "Beauty and the Biz," where we'll discuss the business and marketing side of plastic surgery. As always, I'm your host, Catherine Maley, author of "Your Aesthetic Practice – What Your Patients Are Saying." and consultant to plastic surgeons, helping them get more patients and more profits. What it Really Takes to Open Your Own Practice Admittedly, lots of surgeons think about going out on their own. However, very few actually do it. Specifically, in this week’s episode of "Beauty and the Biz," Dr. Kristina Tansavatdi discusses her journey. Furthermore, this facial plastic surgeon in private practice in Thousand Oaks, California, didn’t wait for the perfect time. Instead, she just made the decision and figured it out. Below, here are some highlights of our conversation: First, she chose betting on herself over buying into someone else’s practice. Additionally, she used real pro forma data to eliminate guessing and hoping. Simultaneously, she built her practice while doing locum tenens to stay afloat. Moreover, she answered her own phones and converted patients herself. Ultimately, she faced the reality of hearing crickets in the beginning. Currently, where is she now? Today, she runs a fully built-out, Quad-A-accredited surgical center in Southern California. Clearly, there are no shortcuts. Likewise, there is no magic. Rather, her success required smart decisions, risk tolerance and consistency. So, if you’re sitting on the fence about going solo, this episode will either validate your hesitation or push you forward.
