  <title>Promote Giving – A New Model for Performance-Driven Giving (EP.496)</title>
<description>My guest on today’s special episode is Joel Holsinger, Co-head of Ares’&amp;amp;nbsp;$50 billion&amp;amp;nbsp;Alternative Credit strategy. In addition to his long and stellar career in the credit markets, Joel spearheaded the launch of Promote Giving, a philanthropic initiative&amp;amp;nbsp;similar to&amp;amp;nbsp;Warren Buffett and Bill Gates’ Giving Pledge,&amp;amp;nbsp;designed for alternative asset managers. Our conversation covers Joel’s path to engaging in philanthropy, starting from humble beginnings to now making grants&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;$5 million in 2025&amp;amp;nbsp;through&amp;amp;nbsp;Ares and&amp;amp;nbsp;launching&amp;amp;nbsp;Promote Giving&amp;amp;nbsp;in October. The proposition of Promote Giving is simple – GPs commit up to 5% of their&amp;amp;nbsp;promote&amp;amp;nbsp;on at least one fund to give to a charity of their choice.&amp;amp;nbsp; With ten signatories and more than&amp;amp;nbsp;$35 billion&amp;amp;nbsp;in AUM pledged to&amp;amp;nbsp;participate&amp;amp;nbsp;already, Promote Giving is&amp;amp;nbsp;quickly&amp;amp;nbsp;growing the movement to managers across asset classes.&amp;amp;nbsp; It’s&amp;amp;nbsp;the Giving Pledge applied to investment firms, and I&amp;amp;nbsp;can’t&amp;amp;nbsp;imagine a better use of this space than&amp;amp;nbsp;to spread&amp;amp;nbsp;the word.
