  <title>030 - FRANK TURNER |DYING SCENE RADIO</title>
  <description>This week on&amp;amp;nbsp;Dying Scene Radio,&amp;amp;nbsp;Bob Noxious&amp;amp;nbsp;and&amp;amp;nbsp;Bobby Pickles&amp;amp;nbsp;welcome&amp;amp;nbsp;Frank Turner&amp;amp;nbsp;by way of the interwebs to discuss his new record,&amp;amp;nbsp;Positive Songs for Negative People. The Bobs can tell full well that Frank is highly disturbed by their uncouth, American manners and hacky, tabloid idiocy - but that doesn&amp;amp;rsquo;t stop them from getting to the bottom of things, or learning about&amp;amp;nbsp;Lester Bangs. From being hungover on the set of his new&amp;amp;nbsp;Josephine video, to performing a &amp;amp;ldquo;nearly&amp;amp;rdquo; spot-on American accent while proclaiming his love and admiration of the deep south, Turner stays courteous to the Bobs, even while Noxious fields him questions, which were obviously researched via wikipedia.&amp;amp;nbsp;Say hello to the punk rock Bruce Springsteen! (At least we didn&amp;amp;rsquo;t make that the headline).&amp;amp;nbsp;Unlike Mr. Pickles, who was on TLC&amp;amp;rsquo;s&amp;amp;nbsp;America&amp;amp;rsquo;s Worst Tattoos&amp;amp;nbsp;- Mr. Turner does not believe in cover-ups or regret, that&amp;amp;rsquo;s why Frank has deemed his left leg, his &amp;amp;ldquo;stupid tattoo leg&amp;amp;rdquo;, sporting an image of Dale Earnhardt, a kangaroo with a unicorn horn, and a brandname of canadian prescription painkillers.&amp;amp;nbsp;Episode 30&amp;amp;rsquo;s recurring themes: Bob&amp;amp;rsquo;s admitted rampant file sharing abuses, his exploitation of hate mail and &amp;amp;ldquo;not so secret&amp;amp;rdquo; admirers, plus a new genre is born: polka-funk.SYNOPSIS OF BANTER&#13;
Bob doesn&amp;amp;rsquo;t know the meaning of provocative. Elliott Fullam of Little Punk People talks about his experience interviewing Babes in Toyland at their NYC Irving Plaza show. Bob has a &amp;amp;ldquo;not so secret&amp;amp;rdquo; admirer who appreciates Bob&amp;amp;rsquo;s beard. Bob says the&amp;amp;nbsp;Meat Puppets&amp;amp;nbsp;aren&amp;amp;rsquo;t &amp;amp;ldquo;punk rock&amp;amp;rdquo;.&amp;amp;nbsp;Bob&amp;amp;rsquo;s extra-curricular activities was band but he had to quit because he had poor grades, while Bobby was hellion, a &amp;amp;ldquo;crazy, punk rock kid&amp;amp;rdquo; who dropped outta high school but still managed to graduate from UF. Frank Turner teaches Bob and Bobby about Lester Bangs, considered to be &amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;amp;ldquo;America&amp;amp;rsquo;s Greatest Rock Critic&amp;amp;rdquo; - the Hunter S. Thompson of music journalism. Bob says Bobby must enjoy wearing women&amp;amp;rsquo;s clothes because Bobby refuses to comment on Fat Mike&amp;amp;rsquo;s fondness of wearing ladies&amp;amp;rsquo; attire.&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;amp;ldquo;There&amp;amp;rsquo;s always a little word play when there&amp;amp;rsquo;s a little ass play&amp;amp;rdquo;, says Bob as he intros &amp;amp;ldquo;Frank Turner &amp;amp;lsquo;doing&amp;amp;rsquo; Josephine&amp;amp;rdquo;. Bob&amp;amp;rsquo;s doing a split 7&amp;amp;rdquo; with Dwarves&amp;amp;rsquo; guitarist HeWhoCannotBeNamed. Bobby wants the 7&amp;amp;rdquo; vinyl from Bob for Christmas. Bob says espresso is a diuretic - that&amp;amp;rsquo;s why e stays clear of that nasty stuff when carousing Walmart shopping aisles.New DS t-shirts may be available soon! Bob says whenever he wears his DS t-shirt, people pledge their undying (pun intended) allegiance to Dying Scene. When a band calls it quits and they still have 7-8 months of touring, Bob won&amp;amp;rsquo;t shed a tear. The name &amp;amp;ldquo;American Television&amp;amp;rdquo; makes Bob think of the &amp;amp;ldquo;golden years&amp;amp;rdquo; of TV. Bob has never experienced television outside of the USA. It&amp;amp;rsquo;s really the lowest common denominator.Frank Turner has better manners than Bob and Bobby, despite being an Englishman. If you&amp;amp;rsquo;re a good songwriter, you might not wanna listen to other&amp;amp;rsquo;s input, as in - &amp;amp;ldquo;dude, that stuff sounds like Iron Maiden, it&amp;amp;rsquo;s not 1984&amp;amp;rdquo; - actual commentary from a PigPen session. While discussing the new Domesplitter hot sauce - Bobby declares, &amp;amp;ldquo;Hot Sauce Everything!&amp;amp;rdquo; Bob looks up the moruga scorpion scoville unit, then explains the hybrid strain system to Bobby, who has read High Times magazine and lives in a &amp;amp;ldquo;medical state&amp;amp;rdquo;.&amp;amp;nbsp;THIS WEEK&amp;amp;rsquo;S PLAYLISTFrank Turner - JosephineFrank Turner Interview Part 1Science Club - The Lord Will Have His Terrible VengeanceContra Code - Screw TapeFrank Turner Interview Part 2Night Birds - Left In The MiddleHopes - TrappedFrank Turner Interview Part 3Sundays - Power Of OneMillion Dead - Breaking The BackFrank Turner Interview Part 4Band Of Homeless - Drink AgainRusty Things - The Butchers BillFrank Turner Interview Part 5Three Eyed Jack - Faded MemoriesThe Offenders - Harsh RealityYou can subscribe to&amp;amp;nbsp;Dying Scene Radio&amp;amp;nbsp;via&amp;amp;nbsp;RSS, on&amp;amp;nbsp;iTunes&amp;amp;nbsp;or with the&amp;amp;nbsp;TuneIn&amp;amp;nbsp;or&amp;amp;nbsp;Stitcher&amp;amp;nbsp;apps for iOS and Android.
