Before Trying to Change Anyone, Try This

Wouldn't it be great if that person in your life would just do things a little differently, is that too much to ask? Well, maybe you've tried that, and it didn't go well. So, now what? Change isn't easy, and that's what this episode is about. We usually don't get to choose how we want circumstances to go, nor do we have much to say about how another human being says or does things, or how they treat us. But not all is lost, when we discover we can drop the struggle. The key is not to change others, but to be transformed within ourselves. This is the best option available to us, but we actually can't even transform ourselves, because we can't just wish ourselves into being greater than we are. So we need transformation, but we can't force it, so are we just a helpless victim of whatever life deals us? Not at all. God has made us to be transformed, and it needs to come from him. We receive this by doing one thing. This one thing is not easy, and it takes many forms as we mature. But, simply put, this one thing is at the heart of all the change we desperately desire, and it requires us to dig deep within our soul, to ask the most difficult question of all - am I willing to put my own self on the line, all that is me, to be transformed? If so, then maybe we are ready to do the one thing. It is the only thing we can do, because it is in the Bull's Eye of why we are in this world. We've all fallen short of this one thing, but it remains an option available to everyone, although few choose it, because the cost is everything... and so is the reward. This one thing is the simplest, hardest choice we can make, and it requires everything, which is why it is the road less traveled, the narrow gate. The one thing, as simple as it is, is "seeking". At the center of what we seek, is the Lord himself, with reckless abandon. Not dabbling, not testing the waters. Those feel-good approaches are a death trap. We must leap, and not look back, reaching ever forward. This episode is about the reality that we can't change people the way we want to, and how to instead get our eyes off them and seek the Lord. Remember to Like and Subscribe to be notified when new episodes are published.
