PAUL TREADWELL:&amp;amp;nbsp;So&amp;amp;nbsp;how long&amp;amp;nbsp;have&amp;amp;nbsp;you&amp;amp;nbsp;been&amp;amp;nbsp;running&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;[INAUDIBLE]&amp;amp;nbsp;here&amp;amp;nbsp;at the fair? REENIE BAKER SANSTEAD:&amp;amp;nbsp;Well,&amp;amp;nbsp;dad&amp;amp;nbsp;and&amp;amp;nbsp;mom&amp;amp;nbsp;started&amp;amp;nbsp;it&amp;amp;nbsp;in&amp;amp;nbsp;1949.&amp;amp;nbsp;And&amp;amp;nbsp;at&amp;amp;nbsp;that&amp;amp;nbsp;time,&amp;amp;nbsp;it&amp;amp;nbsp;was&amp;amp;nbsp;a&amp;amp;nbsp;tent,&amp;amp;nbsp;and&amp;amp;nbsp;there&amp;amp;nbsp;was&amp;amp;nbsp;maybe&amp;amp;nbsp;three&amp;amp;nbsp;places&amp;amp;nbsp;to&amp;amp;nbsp;eat&amp;amp;nbsp;at&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;fair&amp;amp;nbsp;then.&amp;amp;nbsp;And&amp;amp;nbsp;they&amp;amp;nbsp;love&amp;amp;nbsp;telling&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;story&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;pigs&amp;amp;nbsp;getting&amp;amp;nbsp;loose&amp;amp;nbsp;out&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;next&amp;amp;nbsp;door&amp;amp;nbsp;and&amp;amp;nbsp;coming&amp;amp;nbsp;through&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;tent&amp;amp;nbsp;and&amp;amp;nbsp;ripping&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;tent&amp;amp;nbsp;down.&amp;amp;nbsp;But&amp;amp;nbsp;we&amp;amp;nbsp;started&amp;amp;nbsp;with&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;idea&amp;amp;nbsp;that&amp;amp;nbsp;we&amp;amp;nbsp;wanted&amp;amp;nbsp;upstate&amp;amp;nbsp;New&amp;amp;nbsp;York&amp;amp;nbsp;to&amp;amp;nbsp;know&amp;amp;nbsp;about&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;Cornell&amp;amp;nbsp;barbecue&amp;amp;nbsp;chicken.&amp;amp;nbsp;So&amp;amp;nbsp;it&amp;amp;nbsp;was,&amp;amp;nbsp;again,&amp;amp;nbsp;to&amp;amp;nbsp;promote&amp;amp;nbsp;chicken&amp;amp;nbsp;to&amp;amp;nbsp;this&amp;amp;nbsp;area. PAUL TREADWELL:&amp;amp;nbsp;So&amp;amp;nbsp;you ate a lot of&amp;amp;nbsp;chicken&amp;amp;nbsp;growing&amp;amp;nbsp;up. REENIE BAKER SANSTEAD:&amp;amp;nbsp;We&amp;amp;nbsp;did. PAUL TREADWELL:&amp;amp;nbsp;Did&amp;amp;nbsp;you eat&amp;amp;nbsp;a&amp;amp;nbsp;lot&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;test&amp;amp;nbsp;chickens? REENIE BAKER SANSTEAD:&amp;amp;nbsp;[LAUGHS] PAUL TREADWELL:&amp;amp;nbsp;Do you&amp;amp;nbsp;remember&amp;amp;nbsp;that&amp;amp;nbsp;development&amp;amp;nbsp;process? REENIE BAKER SANSTEAD:&amp;amp;nbsp;Well,&amp;amp;nbsp;it&amp;amp;nbsp;is&amp;amp;nbsp;sort&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;a&amp;amp;nbsp;family&amp;amp;nbsp;joke&amp;amp;nbsp;that&amp;amp;nbsp;when&amp;amp;nbsp;dad&amp;amp;nbsp;came&amp;amp;nbsp;out&amp;amp;nbsp;with&amp;amp;nbsp;new&amp;amp;nbsp;products,&amp;amp;nbsp;he&amp;amp;nbsp;had&amp;amp;nbsp;a&amp;amp;nbsp;taste&amp;amp;nbsp;panel&amp;amp;nbsp;at&amp;amp;nbsp;Cornell.&amp;amp;nbsp;And&amp;amp;nbsp;then&amp;amp;nbsp;his&amp;amp;nbsp;kids&amp;amp;nbsp;became&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;second&amp;amp;nbsp;taste&amp;amp;nbsp;panel.&amp;amp;nbsp;And&amp;amp;nbsp;if&amp;amp;nbsp;we&amp;amp;nbsp;voted&amp;amp;nbsp;it&amp;amp;nbsp;down,&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;dogs&amp;amp;nbsp;became&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;last&amp;amp;nbsp;taste&amp;amp;nbsp;panel&amp;amp;nbsp;because&amp;amp;nbsp;there&amp;amp;nbsp;was&amp;amp;nbsp;plenty&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;good&amp;amp;nbsp;things&amp;amp;nbsp;that&amp;amp;nbsp;came&amp;amp;nbsp;out,&amp;amp;nbsp;and&amp;amp;nbsp;there&amp;amp;nbsp;there's&amp;amp;nbsp;a&amp;amp;nbsp;lot&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;not-so-good&amp;amp;nbsp;things&amp;amp;nbsp;that&amp;amp;nbsp;came&amp;amp;nbsp;out. PAUL TREADWELL:&amp;amp;nbsp;[LAUGHS] SARAH SANSTED:&amp;amp;nbsp;Some&amp;amp;nbsp;flops. REENIE BAKER SANSTEAD:&amp;amp;nbsp;Yeah,&amp;amp;nbsp;there&amp;amp;nbsp;were&amp;amp;nbsp;some&amp;amp;nbsp;flops.&amp;amp;nbsp;Within&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;Tompkins&amp;amp;nbsp;County&amp;amp;nbsp;area,&amp;amp;nbsp;everybody&amp;amp;nbsp;knows&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;Cornell&amp;amp;nbsp;chicken,&amp;amp;nbsp;for&amp;amp;nbsp;sure.&amp;amp;nbsp;I&amp;amp;nbsp;mean&amp;amp;nbsp;every&amp;amp;nbsp;fireman&amp;amp;nbsp;or&amp;amp;nbsp;fundraiser's&amp;amp;nbsp;cooking&amp;amp;nbsp;chicken&amp;amp;nbsp;somewhere&amp;amp;nbsp;in&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;area.&amp;amp;nbsp;The&amp;amp;nbsp;story&amp;amp;nbsp;is&amp;amp;nbsp;that&amp;amp;nbsp;he&amp;amp;nbsp;went&amp;amp;nbsp;to&amp;amp;nbsp;get&amp;amp;nbsp;his&amp;amp;nbsp;master's&amp;amp;nbsp;at&amp;amp;nbsp;Penn&amp;amp;nbsp;State.&amp;amp;nbsp;And&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;president&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;Penn&amp;amp;nbsp;State&amp;amp;nbsp;said,&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;governor's&amp;amp;nbsp;coming.&amp;amp;nbsp;Can&amp;amp;nbsp;you&amp;amp;nbsp;think&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;a&amp;amp;nbsp;different&amp;amp;nbsp;way&amp;amp;nbsp;to&amp;amp;nbsp;serve&amp;amp;nbsp;chicken?  And&amp;amp;nbsp;so&amp;amp;nbsp;he&amp;amp;nbsp;wasn't&amp;amp;nbsp;fond&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;great&amp;amp;nbsp;tomato&amp;amp;nbsp;base&amp;amp;nbsp;will&amp;amp;nbsp;burn.&amp;amp;nbsp;And&amp;amp;nbsp;so&amp;amp;nbsp;he&amp;amp;nbsp;was&amp;amp;nbsp;trying&amp;amp;nbsp;to&amp;amp;nbsp;think&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;a&amp;amp;nbsp;way&amp;amp;nbsp;that&amp;amp;nbsp;would&amp;amp;nbsp;keep&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;chicken&amp;amp;nbsp;moist&amp;amp;nbsp;and&amp;amp;nbsp;not&amp;amp;nbsp;dry&amp;amp;nbsp;out&amp;amp;nbsp;and&amp;amp;nbsp;yet&amp;amp;nbsp;not&amp;amp;nbsp;burn&amp;amp;nbsp;like&amp;amp;nbsp;tomato&amp;amp;nbsp;would.&amp;amp;nbsp;So&amp;amp;nbsp;that's&amp;amp;nbsp;how&amp;amp;nbsp;he&amp;amp;nbsp;came&amp;amp;nbsp;up&amp;amp;nbsp;with&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;recipe.&amp;amp;nbsp;But&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;course,&amp;amp;nbsp;you&amp;amp;nbsp;have&amp;amp;nbsp;to&amp;amp;nbsp;add&amp;amp;nbsp;eggs&amp;amp;nbsp;to&amp;amp;nbsp;it&amp;amp;nbsp;because&amp;amp;nbsp;that&amp;amp;nbsp;includes&amp;amp;nbsp;more&amp;amp;nbsp;of&amp;amp;nbsp;his&amp;amp;nbsp;poultry&amp;amp;nbsp;innovation&amp;amp;nbsp;and&amp;amp;nbsp;that&amp;amp;nbsp;emulsifiers&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;sauce&amp;amp;nbsp;to&amp;amp;nbsp;make&amp;amp;nbsp;it&amp;amp;nbsp;hold&amp;amp;nbsp;together&amp;amp;nbsp;better. PAUL TREADWELL:&amp;amp;nbsp;So&amp;amp;nbsp;what I hear you telling&amp;amp;nbsp;me&amp;amp;nbsp;tell,&amp;amp;nbsp;though,&amp;amp;nbsp;is that&amp;amp;nbsp;this&amp;amp;nbsp;really&amp;amp;nbsp;is&amp;amp;nbsp;not&amp;amp;nbsp;Cornell&amp;amp;nbsp;chicken.&amp;amp;nbsp;It's&amp;amp;nbsp;Penn&amp;amp;nbsp;State&amp;amp;nbsp;chicken. REENIE BAKER SANSTEAD:&amp;amp;nbsp;Well,&amp;amp;nbsp;so&amp;amp;nbsp;what&amp;amp;nbsp;happened&amp;amp;nbsp;was&amp;amp;nbsp;right&amp;amp;nbsp;after,&amp;amp;nbsp;then,&amp;amp;nbsp;he&amp;amp;nbsp;got&amp;amp;nbsp;a&amp;amp;nbsp;job&amp;amp;nbsp;at&amp;amp;nbsp;Cornell.&amp;amp;nbsp;And&amp;amp;nbsp;he&amp;amp;nbsp;brought&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;recipe&amp;amp;nbsp;with&amp;amp;nbsp;him&amp;amp;nbsp;and&amp;amp;nbsp;gave&amp;amp;nbsp;it&amp;amp;nbsp;to&amp;amp;nbsp;Cornell. PAUL TREADWELL:&amp;amp;nbsp;So&amp;amp;nbsp;the&amp;amp;nbsp;secret&amp;amp;nbsp;is&amp;amp;nbsp;we&amp;amp;nbsp;don't&amp;amp;nbsp;talk&amp;amp;nbsp;about&amp;amp;nbsp;Penn State&amp;amp;nbsp;[INAUDIBLE].
