<title>#4 Sustainable swimwear with Vicki Jones of Sand &amp;amp; Palm</title>
<description>In Episode 4 I welcome Vicki Jones – clothes designer, surfer and founder of sustainable swimwear brand Sand &amp;amp;amp; Palm – to the breakfast table.&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;amp;nbsp; Vicki&amp;amp;nbsp;established Sand &amp;amp;amp; Palm four years ago having trained and worked in activewear&amp;amp;nbsp;fashion for a decade.&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;amp;nbsp; She was determined&amp;amp;nbsp;to set up an sustainable clothing company, despite being warned by&amp;amp;nbsp;industry&amp;amp;nbsp;insiders not to market her products as ‘eco’ for fear it would put people off&amp;amp;nbsp;buying them.&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;amp;nbsp; But Vicki persevered, led&amp;amp;nbsp;by a passionate belief that sustainable clothing must be the future.&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;amp;nbsp;Fast&amp;amp;nbsp;forward a few years, and Vicki’s&amp;amp;nbsp;swimwear, made from regenerated ocean plastics, is a quintessential slow&amp;amp;nbsp;fashion brand, consciously anchoring itself against the tide of fast fashion&amp;amp;nbsp;that has swept us all&amp;amp;nbsp;along, and demonstrating that style and sustainability can&amp;amp;nbsp;go hand in hand.&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;amp;nbsp; During the&amp;amp;nbsp;episode we discuss the ways in which Vicki has consciously crafted each element&amp;amp;nbsp;of her business to be as sustainable as possible, from the&amp;amp;nbsp;fabrics she uses to&amp;amp;nbsp;packaging, marketing and using an ethical bank account.&amp;amp;nbsp;&amp;amp;nbsp; We also talk about the social and&amp;amp;nbsp;environmental problems with fast fashion, and how principles of slow,&amp;amp;nbsp;sustainable fashion are starting to become more mainstream.
