Ancient woods are a commonplace for Ancient pagan religions, their followers, and sometimes even the bloodthirsty gods they worship. The cinematography will remind of The Blair Witch Project (which I previously analyzed), and the god behaves like the Lovecraftian Shub-Niggurath taking sacrifices and never leaving the woods. The novel is equally awesome and I definetely recommend it! It pairs really well with a vodka sour, the adventurous drink you put raw egg whites in.
