1 rich Libsyn https://www.libsyn.com 90 600 Saturday November 2, 2019&amp;nbsp; on Behind the Blue Curtain we’re going to discuss&amp;nbsp; the conversation that African American and other families of color have with their kids regarding interacting with the police.&amp;nbsp; This conversation usually takes place around 8-10 years old.&amp;nbsp; It’s not a “Police are your friend” or “You can trust the police” conversation.&amp;nbsp; It’s not a demonization of police but it is centered around your child’s safety.&amp;nbsp; You must teach them that they may be stopped for no reason, pulled over for no reason, spoken to harshly, and treated like a criminal for no reason.&amp;nbsp; Now that sounds hard to some of you, but its factual.&amp;nbsp; Sure, not every Police Officer is bad, but the statistics don’t lie. African Americans are disproportionately stopped, searched, arrested and receive harsher sentences than white Americans.&amp;nbsp; Enforcement of the immigrational policy is aimed at “those brown people” in the southern United States.&amp;nbsp; Even white parents with black children have had this conversation with their children.&amp;nbsp; If they haven’t, they will.&amp;nbsp; The problem is NOT white people.&amp;nbsp; The problem is racial and cultural ignorance in enforcement of laws, and a “for profit” prison and legal system.&amp;nbsp; Joining us will be The Facebook Live Crew, Tyrone K Dunmore, Retired Chicago Homicide Detective Joseph J Moseley, Claudia Lynch, Esq, Walter Gus Glover and Former 12-year Fort Worth Police Officer LaRhonda Young.
