#7: Mikey Sorboro (Founder & Owner, Mikey's Late Night Slice) –– Building An Empire On Pizza & Booze In Columbus, Ohio

Welcome to the Elliott Feldman Podcast where we interview the business influencers and social influencers of Columbus that ultimately make our city great. Because while we may not have white sandy beaches or golden gate bridges in Columbus, we have great people with great stories and I intend to get them all on camera. I’m your host Elliott Feldman. Digital Mayor of Columbus, Attorney with an MBA, and Licensed Real Estate Agent with Weichert Realtors, Triumph Group. __ On this episode with spoke with business influencer Mikey Sorboro, who’s the founder and co owner of the Mikey’s Late Night Slice restaurants and the Short North bar Odd Fellows. In this interview, Mike and I discussed his incredible journey, from dropping out of college, to DJing in Vegas, to starting ECT Pedicab, his bike taxi company in the Short North, which led to him opening up his first Mikey’s Late Night Slice restaurant, the one that’s still stands right next to OddFellows in the Short North. We talked about how he knew nothing about owning a pizza restaurant when he first started, to building it by buying one kitchen item at a time, and learning how to piece everything together by watching tutorials on YouTube and sheer hustle. For you business folks out there, we got into the nitty gritty details about Mike’s strategies on how to hire the right people, bring on the right partners, and create an amazing company culture. We discussed why he started the Columbus Diaper Bank Charity and how many diapers his charity has been able to donate to Columbus families in need. We discussed Mike’s plan to expand the Late Night Slice restaurants to new markets with his perfected model of a fast casual concept with a full alcohol program. We even discussed how he and his wife, Rachael, met and how he got both comedian Gilbert Gottfried & rapper Ice T to give Mike and Rachael shout outs on Instagram to congratulate them on their new baby their expecting! Mike Sorboro’s story is an incredible tale that highlights just how much opportunity there still is for entrepreneurs in this growing and vibrant city of Columbus because, as Mike says, Columbus is still not saturated with virtually anything yet. From DJing in Vegas to Building an Empire on Pizza and Booze, you’re going to love this interview.
